Over the last several weeks, we’ve talked about everything that guild leaders need to do to try to maintain peace, order, and progress amongst your ranks. I’m going to let the rest of your guild in on a little secret: it’s like a job, except you don’t get paid.
Theoretically it should be a job that your GMs and officers love. Your leadership has less flexibility when it comes to scheduling than rank and file members. When it comes to raiding or other activities, your leadership doesn’t have the opportunity to slack off. They are working hard to make sure things run smoothly and to set a good example for their members.

Hi howdy and hello, everyone. I’m Matthew Rossi, famous for being tail whipped into the cave on our first Onyxia 10 attempt yesterday. Twice. Despite having been a veteran of the original raid, which means I’ve heard this kind of ranting many, many times. What I’m getting at is, there are certain things you do not do in a successful Onyxia kill (then and now) and if you go in cocky, thinking that you’re mister fancy pants Conquerer of Ulduar, then she’s going to embarrass you. If, on the other hand, you just go in and kill her, it’s much less embarrassing all told. As long as you keep her mechanics in mind, she’s not a terribly complicated or hard fight, but she’s been updated and tuned fairly well for an 80 raid.

Today, All the World’s a Stage begins a series on “how to be evil,” bringing back the bad guy in your fantasy roleplaying — complete with ideas, methods, warnings, and practical examples.
Up to now, we’ve mostly talked about roleplaying as a way that you and your friends can get together and enjoy developing your characters’ relationships with one another. You don’t normally tell stories about epic struggle against evil incarnate as a roleplayer in WoW, mostly because you have very limited control over the enemies you can struggle against in the game — they tend to respawn every few minutes. It’s hard to say, “We have just defeated Arthas and rid the world of the threat of the Scourge!” when your guild is scheduled to do the same thing again next week. There are ways around the continuity problem when you’re raiding, but generally the best roleplayers tend to stay away from big lore characters and earth-shattering consequences, to focus on the more personal, down to earth things our heroes experience as they

This week, Totem Talk talks about leveling a shaman through PvP. That’s right, I said leveling a shaman through PvP. Matthew Rossi has discovered the joys of returning to the Horde this weekend with a level grinding AV blitz that even he doesn’t really understand.
Before we even get started: I’m working on a post about the change to Glyph of Flame Shock and the Earthen Power changes. It will be its own post, it probably won’t be a Totem Talk all by itself. It’s one of those “Enough to give it some focus, not enough for a full column” changes. For now, here’s a relevant forum thread with blue feedback on the issue.

If you remember, back when Emalon the Storm Watcher hit the ground, our own Zach Yonzon warned you that Emalon was no loot pinata. While Archavon required only a bare minimum of basic skills, and was really just a DPS race even when he first came out, Emalon to this day requires your group to vaguely pay attention and kill the big, growing add first.
With the beginning of the new Arena season, Koralon the FIre Watcher has taken up residence with Emalon and Archavon. He lives to the left of the hall, opposite to where Emalon hangs out. In terms of skill, he’s only slightly more difficult than Archavon. In fact, I’d say he’s probably easier, if your group’s gear can support your ability to kill him. We’ll go through his four abilities first, because that’s what we do.

As I’ve mentioned before I’m not totally against PUGging raids. I find its actually an excellent way to get to know people on the server and sometimes a handy recruiting tool. Depending on your guild rules, there are some raids to PUG and some raids to save your lockout for your guild.
I had a guildie today all distraught because he was saved to Naxx 10 helping a guildie out. He apologized profusely when someone was putting together a “Badge Run Blitz” but couldn’t heal it. At this point Naxx 10 is like running an extended heroic with more gold and shards. We’ve progressed beyond it, so lockouts are fair game.
I get a wee bit crabbier when folks get locked out of our current progression. We’re actually still working on Ulduar 10, and need to draw upon any available resources to move forward. Guildies can feel free to run Naxx, Vault, and Obsidian Sanctum to their

Welcome back to the Scattered Shots, So you want to be a Hunter series. This guide is intended to help new Hunters better understand how to play the best class in the game. So join me, Eddie “Brigwyn” Carrington from the Hunting Lodge as we explore the ins and out of how to be a Hunter.
Welcome back my Hunter compadres! We’ve made it to Part 3 of So you want to be a Hunter. I know we have had lot’s of things happening of late with BlizzCon and Cataclysm, so it’s probably a good time to give a quick recap on what we’ve done so far.
Part 1: We reviewed racials and their impact on the Hunter class. Going over each of the factions races and what the benefits were of each racial. For now we haven’t talked about the new races that will be added to the Hunter class in Cataclysm (Worgen and Goblins). We’ll have to address that when the new expansion is released.
